Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to bring?

All bait, tackle, lures, and necessary gear are supplied.  A cooler for snacks and drinks will be available on the boat.  You will need to bring a valid NH Fishing License, appropriate clothing for the weather, sunglasses, sunscreen, along with your own food, and beverages. If you are planning to keep fish, you will want to have a cooler in your car for transporting them. A signed liability waiver must be on file before we can leave the dock.

Can I bring my own gear?

Yes. You can bring your own gear. If you plan to bring your own tackle, please let your guide know ahead of time so we can plan space appropriately, ensuring optimal comfort.

Can I book a longer trip than your standard packages?

Absolutely! As long as the time is available on the calendar.

Call (603) 305-8744 to discuss in more detail so we can tailor a trip to meet your needs.

How many people can I bring on your boat?

Three guests plus the captain is the maximum. Any more than that will be too tight. Especially with the casting that we do. We want everyone to be comfortable and safe.

If larger groups are desired, please call (603) 305-8744 to discuss. Guiding Light Fishing Charters is affiliated with the New Hampshire Outdoor Learning Center and may be able to pull together additional resources to accommodate your group.

What if it rains? Will the trip be cancelled?

Trips won't be cancelled due to rain. That is what rain gear is for. The fishing can be quite good during that time.

If the trip needs to be cancelled due to weather, it is typically due to high winds that make for unsafe conditions. Severe thunderstorms and torrential downpours will result in cancellation as well.

Cancellations due to unfavorable weather conditions, mechanical failures, or safety concerns are at the sole discretion of your guide. In the event your guide cancels your trip, you will be given the option of rescheduling or receiving a full refund.

Can I bring my own life vest?

Yes. If you have a life vest that you or your child prefers to wear please bring it. We have type 1 life jackets aboard for everyone, as well as, inflatable vests available for adults. We recommend that everyone wear a life vest while the boat is running from spot to spot.

Please note that in the state of New Hampshire, it is the law that all children 12 and under must wear their life jacket at all times when on a commercial vessel. We have life vests available for children. However, if you have one that they are comfortable wearing, please feel free to bring it.

Can I keep my fish?

While we do quite a bit of catch and release fishing, we have no problem with guests keeping fish for dinner. Fish are delicious!

We just ask that you don't take more than you need. (And stay within the NH state regulations of course.)

Please note that in the state of New Hampshire bass fishing between May 15 and June 15 is catch and release, using artificial lures and flies only.

Will you clean my fish for me?

New Hampshire Fishing Regulations state "The head and tail must remain intact while on or leaving the waters of the state."  So we are limited as to how we can clean the fish for you. Fish can be gutted but not filleted before returning to the ramp. If you are planning to fillet them, it is best to take them home whole.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards - Mastercard, Visa, Discover, and American Express. We also take Venmo, PayPal, or cash.

Cash is always welcome.

What is your policy regarding cancellations or rescheduling of trips?

Once your deposit has been accepted, that day and time will be held for you. Others will be turned away. If we don't have enough notice on a cancellation, we miss that opportunity. We understand that things happen and will work with you to reschedule with enough notice.

  • If notified 30 days or more before the date chosen, we will work with you to reschedule your trip for another day or refund deposit.

  • If the trip is cancelled less than 30 days before the scheduled date, the deposit will not be refunded.

  • A no-show on the day of the trip without a call, text, or email received by us prior to that morning will forfeit any money paid and the balance will be charged.

What is your policy regarding alcohol?

Guiding Light Fishing Charters is a Christian owned, family oriented business. Thus the use of intoxicants is discouraged. Most trips are in the morning, so this usually isn't an issue.

Beer or wine is permitted for responsible consumption by those of legal age.  Cannabis and illegal drugs are NEVER allowed.

If guests become inebriated, the trip will be ended immediately. This is at the sole discretion of the guide. Any trips that are terminated due to intoxication, will not be refunded and any outstanding balance will be charged.

How much do people typically give for a gratuity on a trip like this?

In the outdoor guiding industry, it is usual and customary to tip for good service. Given the amount of work and preparation that goes into guiding, it's generally recommended to tip your guide between 15-25% of the total cost of the trip. However, this can vary depending on a variety of factors, such as the length of the trip, the level of service provided, and the overall experience. Ultimately it is up to you. All gratuities are greatly appreciated.
